Steam Hammer / 1888

"This steam hammer came originally from the blacksmith's shop in the Royal Albert dock works of R.H.Green and Silley Wier Ltd., shipbuilders and repairers. Their works stood on the south side at the west (London) end of the Royal Albert dock. This site is now covered by the London City Airport buildings" [plaque dated 1994]. Built in 1888 by Harvey & Co of Glasgow, it was moved to its current location in Royal Victoria Gardens in 1994. London Borough of Newham.
