Parthenon / Pediment east

Originally in the right-hand corner of the Temple's east pediment, which held sculptures representing the birth of Athena. The left-most seated women is possibly Hestia, goddess of the hearth. Temple of Olympian Zeus / Olympieion

The Temple of Olympian Zeus was begun c.515 BC but was left unfinished for centuries, eventually being completed c.130 AD by Emperor Hadrian. Athens, Greece.

Church of St Catherine / Pláka

Church built on the ruins of the ancient temple of goddess Artemis during C11th. By this time the Greek Christian Church had split from the Latin (Roman Catholic) Church. Colossal in size and colossal in project over-run, having been started in 515 BC and finally completed c.130 AD. Vitruvius described it as one of the most famous marble buildings ever constructed. Athens, Greece.

Propylaea / Pedestal of Agrippa

Named after a re-dedication to Marcus Agrippa, it is thought that the pedestal was actually built c.178BC. It is constructed of grey-blue Hymetus marble. Acropoli, Athens.

At last I've found the building featured in the postcard of 1904 below. It's a private house, presumably Victorian, with neo-gothic style windows and door, plus an unusual zig-zag chimney stack. London Borough of Sutton.

Truman / Black Eagle Brewery

Brick Lane cross-bridge (1970s by Gordon Smith & Partners) of the Truman's Brewery site. This brewery est. 1683 in Spitalfields was once the largest brewery in the world. Closed 1989, the buildings are now used for small business offices and retail. London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
