Arctic Cathedral / from Tromsøya

The Artemision Bronze / Zeus

Left part of marble disc with relief of the head of a goddess, poss. Aphrodite to whom the disc was dedicated. Found on the island of Melos and considered to be one of the most beautiful marble works of the early Classical period (c.460BC) representative of island art. Temple of Olympian Zeus / 2016

Colossal in size and colossal in project over-run, having been started in 515 BC and finally completed c.130 AD. There were originally 104 Corinthian columns supporting the complete temple, although only 15 are now standing. Athens, Greece.
