The wellhouse located in the churchyard was reconstructed in 1838 using flint, stone dressings, and a slate roof. The well itself dates back to the C16, and it features a vertical donkey wheel from the C18 or earlier. Eventually, c.1900, water was piped to Stanmer by the Brighton Water Works. The village is within the City of Brighton & Hove, UK.
