Pyramid / The Scotch Kirk

The Mackenzie Monument, a granite memorial of 1868, in the graveyard of the former St Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Commemorates William Mackenzie, railway contractor, who died 1851. "Folklore has it that he wished to be buried sitting upright at a card table with a winning hand, hence the pyramid". Other equally tall stories are available! Grade II listed.
