The Geffrye Museum

Furniture museum established "for the education of craftsmen", based in ironmongers' almshouses that were built in about 1715. Over the front door is engraved Sr. Rob. Geffrves Kt. Alderman and Ironmonger. Founder of this Hospitall. The building is Grade I listed. Hoxton, London Borough of Hackney.

St Mary's - Garden Hall II

Architect: Terry Pawson Architects. Beautiful new hall for St Mary's Church 2003. Steel frame with pre-cast concrete roof, ashlar limestone cladding and a brilliant glass prism. Received an RIBA Award for 2005. Wimbledon, London Borough of Merton.

Turpin House / Park Court

ExCeL, (Exhibition Centre London), opened in 2000 and Phase II completed this year. It has become a world-class convention venue and will host seven Olympic events in 2012. There are 100,000 sq m of covered space, alongside the north quay of the old Royal Victoria Dock. It is served by 3 DLR stations and 5 on-site hotels with another in construction. Watch House, New River

Late C17 circular brick building with conical roof of clay tiles and stone globe finial. Was used by a linesman whose job was to guard the New River water supply against contamination. (The New River was new in the early 1600's). Grade II listed. Canonbury Grove, London Borough of Islington.

The CGIs show a Starbucks nestling within the pilotis under this apartment block, and plenty of pedestrians about. But at the moment this attractive building is empty, presumably waiting for the upturn. The cladding is anodised aluminium. GRID Architects, 2010; Developers: Galliard Homes.
