The Freemasons Arms / Hampstead

Replacing the original C19th pub, this neo-Georgian building was constructed in the 1930s. Comprising two storeys, basement and attic with dormers partly shielded by parapet. A scroll-pedimented centre door has Y-tracery windows to either side, with the inner pair slightly bowed. A further two porched entrances have Regency-style canopies. The hipped roof and dormers use distinctive copper flashing. London Borough of Camden.

The Pineapple / public house


Built c.1868, architect and builder unknown. Yellow brick with raised brick quoining at curved corner, channelled stucco to ground level. Modillion cornice at first floor and pineapple decorated keystones. The pub is grade II listed. Kentish Town, London Borough of Camden.

Leverton St / from Leverton Pl

Showing part of a Grade II listed terrace of houses built c.1845. Note the surviving cast-iron anthemion (palmette) decoration to the first floor window sills. The listing says: "The terraces of Leverton Street form a charming group of small-scale, painted houses with distinctive decoration that is very unusual in London." The Magdala / NW3

Freehold recently bought for GBP2.1M but thought to be re-opening still as a pub in the New Year. It was outside the Magdala where Ruth Ellis shot her boyfriend in 1955 thereby becoming the last woman to be hanged in the UK. South Hill Park, Hampstead, London Borough of Camden.

Marrocco's / Hove

Restaurant with residential accommodation above, built 1934 to the design of restaurateur Alfonso Forte (1880-1958). Operated by the Forte family until 1969 when it was bought by the Marroccos. The 'winter garden' glazing was absent from the original build, which better suited the modernist style. The property is included in the Cliftonville Conservation Area. 8 King's Esplanade, City of Brighton & Hove.

The White Hart / Mitcham

Mitcham's earliest recorded inn, rebuilt in 1749-50 after serious fire damage. The central porch, with frieze and balustrade, is supported by four Tuscan columns. Stagecoaches used to start from a yard at the rear. Grade II listed. London Road, opposite Cricket Green, London Borough of Merton.

Early C19th terraced house of 1 bay and 3 storeys plus attic. The arch of the entrance can just be seen to right at No. 125. A canopied verandah on cast-iron columns contributes to a graceful, but narrow, facade. Grade II listed. Hampstead, London Borough of Camden.
