132-146 / Pullens Buildings

Typical entrance to Victorian tenements built by James Pullen, 1886-1901. Arch ornamentation is of terracotta with high relief keystone and capitals, possibly the work of the Jennings Pottery of Poole, Dorset. Now part of the Pullens Estate Conservation Area, although it took direct action by locals to save the buildings from demolition in the 1980s. Amelia Street, London Borough of Southwark.

1-8 / Pullens Buildings

Entrance to numbers 1 to 8 of Victorian tenements built by James Pullen & Son between 1886 and 1901. The estate is considered to be of special architectural and historic interest as a good example of a later Victorian speculative development by a local builder. London Borough of Southwark.

Kennington Station / 2024

Underground station of 1890, exterior designed by T.P.Figgis. The large lead dome originally housed the workings of a hydraulic lift. Grade II listed. London Borough of Southwark.

Tinworth Fountain / Pillar

Sculptor: George Tinworth (1843–1913), resident sculptor at the Doulton factory in Lambeth. This is all that remains of a large fountain erected in 1872 and damaged irreparably during the Blitz. Kennington Park, London Borough of Lambeth.

Designed by A.B.Clayton in the Greek Revival style using sandstone and Portland stone. Built by D.R.Roper, 1824. Grade II* listed. Post-WW2 restoration by Thomas Ford & Partners, 1960. Kennington, London Borough of Lambeth.

Previously a public house known as 'The Original Woodman', since 2021 'Le QuecumBar & Brasserie'. Victorian era building mentioned as attractive in the Conservation Area appraisal, although not locally listed. London Borough of Wandsworth.

Winfield House / SW11

Architect: R Minton Taylor of the LCC. Within the St John's Estate, built 1931 as part of Battersea Council’s main inter-war housing effort. Stock brick with red-brick detailing, five storeys including the Mansard roof level. Locally listed in the Battersea Square Conservation Area, London Borough of Wandsworth.

Grade II listed house "of the first third of the C18". Listing includes the single-storey extension with street frontage. Formerly called The Cedars, it is the only survivor of several large houses in the southern part of the High Street. Now part of the Katherine Low Settlement, a local charity. London Borough of Wandsworth.
